INOFO’s President Ms Shamika Mone as a KEYNOTE SPEAKER at1st EAST AFRICAN AGROECOLOGY CONFERENCE
Intercontinental Network of Organic Farmers Organisations (INOFO) President Ms. Shamika Mone, gave the keynote speech on the role of Farmers’ Movements in Promoting Agroecology in Africa
in the 1st Eastern Africa Agroecology Conference last March 21-24 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya. The theme of this conference “Transforming Food Systems for Responsible Production,
Consumption and Social Wellbeing.”
The conference was organized by Biovision Africa, African Union, Inter- Sectoral Forum on Agroecology and Agrobiodiversity (ISFAA), Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Kenya, and Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM)-Kenya.
The conference was attended by more than 500 attendees, from journalists, exhibitors and speakers.
Shamika Mone discussed Organic Farms and Farmers as Multi-versities as multi-cropping, soil, health, diverse traditional seed conservation, On Farm innovation. Traditional Farming practices in dealing climate change, cultural significance of traditional seeds. Mone highlighted initiatives of organic farmers in transforming a sustainable food system and called for unity especially for the youth.
