The Inter-Continental Network of Organic Farmers Organisations (INOFO) is proud to announce the election of our new Council Convenors for Africa for the term 2024-2027. These three esteemed individuals were officially mandated and elected during the 2024 INOFO Africa General Assembly. They will play a pivotal role in representing Africa on the INOFO Global Council and will drive initiatives that support organic farmers across the continent.
Each convenor brings unique expertise, a commitment and a dedication to promoting organic agricultural practices. They will work closely with local communities and regional organizations to advocate for organic farmers’ rights, improve access to resources, and strengthen Africa’s organic farming networks. Daniel Wanjama – Eastern Africa
Seed Savers Network, Kenya
Daniel Wanjama has been a champion for seed sovereignty and food security in Eastern Africa for years. As a representative of Seed Savers Network Kenya, he has led numerous initiatives to preserve indigenous seed varieties and empower farmers to maintain their own seed systems. Daniel’s leadership is rooted in his passion for biodiversity and sustainability, ensuring that smallholder farmers have access to locally adapted, organic seeds. He will represent Eastern Africa on the INOFO Global Council, bringing his experience and commitment to safeguard farmers’ rights to seed ownership and resilient agricultural practices.
Raoudath Bouraima – Western Africa
Les Jardins de l’Espoir, Benin
Raoudath Bouraima, hailing from Benin, is a leading voice in sustainable agriculture and organic farming practices in Western Africa. With Les Jardins de l’Espoir, Raoudath has been instrumental in developing community-driven organic farming systems that emphasize resilience and food security. Her advocacy for women’s involvement in agriculture and sustainable practices makes her a powerful force in the organic movement. Representing Western Africa, Raoudath aims to elevate the voices of farmers and drive organic initiatives that empower rural communities and protect the environment.
Charles K. Mubanga – Southern Africa
Mpongwe Bulima Cooperative, Zambia
Charles K. Mubanga represents the Mpongwe Bulima Cooperative in Zambia, where he has been a steadfast advocate for sustainable farming and cooperative development. With extensive experience in supporting farmers’ cooperatives, Charles has been a driving force for change, focusing on improving livelihoods and promoting ecological practices in agriculture. As the Southern Africa Convenor, he will work to strengthen cooperative systems, ensuring that smallholder farmers have a voice in the policies that impact their lives and livelihoods.
